Surprisingly enough, it's been awhile and I have nothing to rant. Okay, well sort of. There is alot to rant about in my head but I've just been busy and stressed. That's all. So no worries, when the time is right the rants will flow. :)

Well, it just struck me that I haven't posted in awhile and my other blog has double the postings of this one. I guess I must be really narcissistic lately because I have little energy to bother ranting about our shit-hole of a legal system and am focusing on writing about my shit-hole of a life. It works wonders.

Every now and then, I come across a news article that I find mildly amusing. This is one of them. Oprah Winfrey's mother is being sued, reports TV Guide. It seems that she owes a store, $156,000 for purchases and interest as of July 1 but hasn’t made the monthly minimum payment of $2,000. I'm wondering what her job is that a store would let her run up a $156,000 tab. That's just to funny! Especially since they say that she doesn't think she owes them money.

There is nothing new going on right now. I figured that I would do a quick post; seeing as though it has been awhile. I have been away from home but will definately get some new posts up as soon as possible. :)

In a post by John Dunn on his website, he states:
What about the Millions of Serious Occurrence reports in the custody of these agencies and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services? These are reports which provide evidence of abuse and neglect of children under their care. They won't even allow current or former foster kids to access them. They claim it is to protect them from emotional harm since they might read something about themselves which might upset them -- something that these victims remember all too well.
I have to disagree with part of that statement. Yes, there are millions of serious occurance reports. I happen to be in posession of some. They do provide evidence of abuse and neglect of children in the care of the "society" which claims to protect them. I have found that these reports are very easy to access. The problem is not in accessing them; the problem is in a resolve to them. This is part of a bigger issue which I touched on in my last post about the lack of response to complaints.
The problem is that the reports are overlooked even by the courts. Trust me, there is nothing worse than showing a critical incident report to the courts that proved beyond a resonable doubt that an 11-month old child suffered black eyes while in foster care only to have the Judge say that the parents complaints had no merit and that he was "satisfied" that the society acted appropriately in each instance and the parents were wrong in each instance (or something to that effect).
When the hell is it reasonable for an 11-month old child to have black eyes and the concern be without merit?
I can assure you that had he/she been in my care, he/she would have been apprehended with no questions asked!

Every now and then I am sent a random link to an article or two which makes my blood boil. This website is no exception. What is of interest to me is that the site makes mention to the Chatham-Kent Integrated Children's Services. Supposedly, a letter had been sent to them by the owner of the website; a Mr. John Dunn because they did not have an updated complaint form on their website. Anyhow, for whatever reason the letter was sent off. In response to the letter, Director Mike Stephens put in his two cents worth.
Stephens said the information that was not on the website deals with taking a complaint to the Child and Family Service Review Board, an option clients are told about if a complaint is made.
He said CKCS gets a handful of complaints a year.
"Most complaints get resolved in the first phone call," he said.
I know for a fact that the CKCS gets more than a handful of complaints a year and I can guarantee you that most do not get resolved in the first phone call. You see, what happens is that you complain to an agency about their agency and the so-called investigation is internal. Simply put, that means that you're still fucked. I have made complaint after complaint to that ^^^^****ing agency and nothing was done. There was no resolve what-so-ever.
Dunn, who works out of Ottawa as an advocate for children in care, said he noticed the full complaint information was missing while checking the website for membership details.
Well Mr. Dunn from what I was told this particular society does not have a "membership"; if that answers your question. They pretty much laughed at me when I called and asked.

It appears from my referrer stats that someone found my little blog through a google web search. How they found it is beyond me. I looked but am not seeing my site anywhere on the list; unlike my other website which came in third for the referring search term.
Anyhow, on with the news. I am still not at home but just wanted to shoot of a rant to keep things flowing nicely on the website. Then I noticed that and got excited so I am going to step back for a few and try get back into the mood.

Well it's been a little while since I have ranted about anything. I am out of town right now but wanted to update and say that I have some good ranting material for when I get home. Until then...

In an article I read yesterday, a person had written a letter to the editor about the "disgrace of our welfare system" and hit on some points invoiving The Children's Aid Society.
Sun Media columnist Christina Blizzard ("Ontario's child welfare system is failing too many kids," Aug. 16) blames our child welfare system and the courts for all the child abuse and neglect in this province, and she refers to a number of recent Toronto cases. But the courts and the child welfare authorities deal only with cases that are brought before them, and then only on the available evidence.
Reported cases are just the tip of the iceberg. Most child neglect and abuse is never reported.
It is my belief that the statement Ms. Blizzard made is untrue. The courts do deal with the cases that are brought before them but I do not believe that the child welfare authorities deal only with cases brought before them and especially not with the available evidence. "Available evidence" can be merely a statement from a child services worker saying, "He was an unknown". I've seen babies ripped from their parents arms at the hospital just shortly after birth on the basis that the social worker in question did not know this person; based only on "what could happen" because "we don't know". Once in "care", these children are abused by the so-called "authorities" who claim to protect them. It's not a matter of child abuse and neglect not being reported. Actual child abuse and neglect is reported and from my experience these families get to keep their children. It is my belief that the workers assess which children they can get more money from and who they have a better chance of adopting out, namely newborn babies, and they go in for the kill with them.
But that's not the real problem. By the time the CAS arrives on the scene, the damage is already done. And much of it is irreversible. I can't imagine a more depressing job.
By the time CAS arrives on the scene, the damage has not been done. What happens after they arrive is only the tip of the iceburg. Yes, what they do is irreversible. Not only to the families they rip apart but the innocent children, as well. I know of only a few scattered cases in which the CAS got involved with families who had older children and were actually abusing them as opposed to the hundreds of cases in which the CAS "involved" themselves and fabricated evidence. Because that's what they do. They "don't know" yet if you might harm your child, but trust me, once they snatch your kids and get them into an access setting everything you do and say will be the wrong thing and will be used to keep your kids from you forever. And don't think you can go in and not say anything because they will make up things you say. Don't think you can miss any visits because if they don't get a chance to make up fabricated reports then they will use it against you that you didn't make it. Either way, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Ontario Children and Youth Services Minister Deb Matthews dropped by Rose Avenue Public School on Wednesday, July 23 to formally announce the Ontario Child Benefit program was officially up and running.
The program is geared toward helping low-income families make ends meet by providing a monthly allowance of $50 per child. The benefit will help out 465,000 families and nearly a million children.
Awwww... now isn't that sweet of her? To go into a school to dicuss Little Johnny's parents finances; or lack thereof. I bet that his mommy and daddy were really happy when he came home begging for those new puma sneakers and adidas bookbag (or whatever the brand name crap kids want now-a-days).
And what a great time to give his parents an extra $50.00. Just before school starts. Isn't that so nice of the government? Because parents really need that money right about now.
It's to bad that it goes in one hand and out the other. Sure, the provincial government isn't clawing it back this time. They are doing one even better. They are cutting kids off the parents welfare cheques and discontinuing the back to school and winter clothing allowances. And then they call that help!
It might be beneficial to some parents but many others are being financially fucked in the governments sick joke of a so-called "child benefit program". What a great way to send your kids back to school! Only this year, there won't be any back to school clothes because we all know that you can't buy much with $50.00.
Great job Canada! I commend you for your step towards a better future for our children. But then again, most of them are in foster care so they don't see much to begin with. Keep up the great work. It's moves like this that make me so proud of our country. ** Note the sarcasm. **
